Viscounts Irvine (1661)

 

1st Viscount Irvine, Henry Ingram, b.1620, a.1661, d.1666

 

From the family of Ingram of Temple Newsam in Yorkshire, who often filled the post of Sheriff of Yorkshire, Henry Ingram was created 1st Viscount Irwin, or Irvine, for his loyalty to Charles I during the Civil Wars. The family had no connection to Scotland apart from the fact that the family seat of Temple Newsam House had previously been owned by Ludovic Stewart, 2nd Duke of Lennox.

 

2nd Viscount Irvine, Edward Ingram, b.1663, a.1666, d.1688

 

Son of the 1st Viscount and Essex Montagu (b.?, d.1667), daughter of Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Manchester.

 

3rd Viscount Irvine, Arthur Ingram, b.1666, a.1668, d.1702

 

Younger brother of the 2nd Viscount.

 

4th Viscount Irvine, Edward Machel Ingram, b.1686, a.1702, d.1714

 

Son of the 3rd Viscount and Isabella Machel (b.1670, d.1764).

 

5th Viscount Irvine, Richard Ingram, b.1688, a.1714, d.1721

 

Younger brother of the 4th Viscount.

 

6th Viscount Irvine, Arthur Ingram, b.1689, a.1721, d.1736

 

Younger brother of the 4th and 5th Viscounts.

 

7th Viscount Irvine, Henry Ingram, b.1691, a.1736, d.1761

 

Younger brother of the 4th, 5th and 6th Viscounts.

 

8th Viscount Irvine, George Ingram, b.1694, a.1761, d.1763

 

Younger brother of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Viscounts.

 

9th Viscount Irvine, Charles Ingram, b.1727, a.1763, d.1778

 

Grandson of the 3rd Viscount and son of the Charles Ingram (b.c.1698, d.1748), the youngest of the brothers, and Elizabeth Scarborough. He had at least 4 legitimate daughters but no male children. As there were no males left in the family, the title became extinct.
